Myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), astigmatism, and now presbyopia (the need for reading glasses) are all conditions that can be treated by laser eye surgery. Reshaping the cornea, the transparent layer in front of the eye, is the focus of the treatment. An “excimer” laser is used for this reshaping, which aids in eye focus and hence improves natural vision significantly.
